It covers all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and the five permanently inhabited U.S. territories, and it is organized by state, county, and city so you can find the agency for a place.

Geography comes from the U.S. Census Bureau. Agency listings come from a Bureau of Justice Statistics survey republished by the Department of Homeland Security. Stations come from city and state open data portals and from OpenStreetMap. Every source, its date, and its limits are listed on the data sources page.

• It is not a government site and is not affiliated with any police agency.
• It is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911.
• It is not complete. No national list of every station exists, and many agency records are several years old. Pages say so, and the disclaimer explains the limits.

We publish what a source says and do not fill gaps with guesses. When a fact is missing, the page says "Not listed". Records we have checked ourselves against an agency or an official site show "Checked by us" with the date and source. Everything else is marked as imported.
